Dangers of High Fructose Corn Syrup and now Agave

Most of us already know the dangers of High Fructose Corn Syrup and that it is in almost everything that people normally buy. They have now done new research to show how bad it really is for our bodies. Here is a a really cool video talking about the new research.

Now here is the shocking part to me. I was reading an article about how bad Agave is for us. It says that agave has the highest fructose content than any commerical sweetener ranging from 70-97 % depending on the brand. This is so much higher than HFCS which is about 55%.
Fructose increases insulin resistance, liver damage and a lot of other problems. So when you watch the video about HFCS keep in mind that agave is suppose to be much much worse. Check out for all the info on this site.

OF COURSE! Blasted. I just bought a bunch at Costco! Guess I'll be taking it back. Funny thing is, each time I bought it I kept thinking...you know, this is probably a "too good to be true" type thing. Guess it's back to bee poo then. Oh well, honey tastes better anyway! Thanks for the info.

I haven't watched the videos, but I have a hard time believing that anything in nature can be too terrible for us. We know HFCS is man-made, but agave is 100% natural. I would be skeptical.

Its not RAW though Lisa as they claim...though its made from raw material.... Its squeezed, cooked and treated to be sweet...just like any processed or man/made sugars....and arsenic is not man-made either but I wouldn't eat it. There are plenty of poisonous things made by nature.

Here is another great article on it. Its based on how the liver processes it ..... In fact, agave has 35% more fructose concentration than HFCS. This is the whole argument about HFCS anyways...is that the Fructose content is too high and damages the liver.

You have to be really careful buying into trendy hypes on food. Just because they say so, doesn't make it so. People skew how things are marketed, researched and published based on their agenda more often than I think we are aware.

RAW CANE SUGAR and honey is the best way to go if you are going to use a sweetener at all........ But all things in moderation. Regular sugar in small amounts is not going to kill you. You have to find the balance that works for you.......

DON'T BUY INTO HYPE!

I wish I would have finished my fitness and wellness degree (I was almost done!)...some of this stuff really peeves me.

Agave... arsenic? Hmmm, okay. I think most of us know not to put that in our tea.

As a side note, unless you go out in the field and gather it yourself, all food is processed, including cane sugar and honey. That's not to say that some choices aren't healthier over others, but processing in and of itself does not make for a "bad" food, as some mistakenly believe. : )

you did say anything....... lol I realize you wouldn't eat arsenic. But, based on that logic it couldn't hold true and now you see why.

The high fructose content is what makes HFCS so harmful to the liver....which is what is present in Agave NECTAR in even higher quantities. Before it is turned into a nectar its qualities are completely different.

We all have to find that balance that we feel comfortable with....and sometimes they aren't the same as someone elses....but that is what is so great about being able to have our own personal revelation on things that probably.....really don't matter that much. When its our time to go....its our time to go and no amount of agave vs sugar vs honey ... or whatever will alter that too much. Ya know? Though we need to be good stewards of our bodies...our Heavenly Father will fill in the holes (where he sees fit) when we aren't quite on . He has that ability

My motto when it comes to doctors, science, technology, etc. is "They only know what they know." I think the same holds true in this case. If you look back over the years, research is always contradicting itself. Having said that, and without having watched the video, I will still use agave nectar with NO WORRIES! To me, this research is just a part of the hype. You have to go with common sense and intuition, that's why God gave it to us. : )
